A plain account of how this website may be used.

We publish this website for the benefit of our parish, our donors, our volunteers and the wider public. Use of the site is governed by these short terms.

In short

If you only read one box, read this one.

  • This site is published by Mary Wrench Charity, registered charity 219988.
  • Content is © Mary Wrench Charity unless attributed otherwise. You may quote and link freely.
  • Donations made on the site are gifts; we do not refund them except in error.
  • Forms and downloads on the site are real; payment processing is handled by a third-party processor.
  • We do not warrant the site against every possible defect; please tell us if something is broken.
  • These terms are governed by English law.

1 · Who we are

This website is published by Mary Wrench Charity, a registered charity in England and Wales (number 219988), with its registered office at 10 South Downs, Knutsford, Cheshire WA16 8ND. The trustees are responsible for the content and for the conduct of the charity. For all enquiries please write to [email protected].

2 · Acceptable use

You may use this website to read about the charity, to make a donation, to apply to volunteer, to download our published documents, and to write to us. You may quote our content for personal, educational, or journalistic purposes provided you attribute it to Mary Wrench Charity.

You may not use the site to send unsolicited bulk messages, to attempt to circumvent our cookie or privacy notice, to upload malicious content via our forms, or to misrepresent yourself in any application form.

3 · Intellectual property

Unless attributed otherwise, the text and original photography on this website is © Mary Wrench Charity. The trust's name and roundel logo are the trust's property and should not be reproduced for commercial purposes without our consent. Quotations from the 1830 Deed of Gift are in the public domain, the deed having been written nearly two centuries ago.

Where third-party material is reproduced — for example, the Charity Commission register link — it remains the property of the third party.

4 · Donations

Donations made on this website are gifts. Once processed they cannot ordinarily be refunded; we will, however, refund a donation made in genuine error (such as a mistyped amount with a missing decimal) on written request within 14 days of the gift. To request a refund, please write to [email protected].

Gift Aid declarations are governed by HMRC's rules. By ticking the Gift Aid box you confirm that you are a UK taxpayer and that you understand the rules; if you cease to be a UK taxpayer, please write to tell us and we will update our records.

5 · Forms and applications

All forms on this site — donations, volunteer applications, contact, event registrations, resource downloads — produce a real response from a trustee or the Honorary Almoner. We aim to respond within five working days at the outside, and usually within three. We are a small trust; please be patient with us.

By submitting a form you confirm that the information you have given is accurate, and that you are entitled to provide it (for example, that any references you nominate have given consent to be approached).

6 · Availability and accuracy

We make reasonable efforts to keep the site up and to keep the information on it accurate, but we do not warrant that it will be available without interruption or that every figure on it will always be the most recent. Annual report figures, in particular, are formally authoritative only in the version filed with the Charity Commission.

If you spot an error, please write to [email protected] and we will issue a correction. The trustees are grateful for such corrections.

7 · Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by English law, the trust's liability for any loss or damage arising from the use of this website is limited to the amount, if any, that you have given to the trust through this website. Nothing in these terms limits the trust's liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything that cannot be excluded under English consumer law.

8 · External links

The site links to a small number of external sites — the Charity Commission, the Information Commissioner's Office, Citizens Advice Cheshire East, the Trussell Trust's foodbank finder, OpenStreetMap. We have no control over those sites' content and are not responsible for it. The links are provided in good faith.

9 · Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

10 · Changes to these terms

We update these terms when our practice changes. The date at the head of this page is the date of last revision. Major changes are notified to subscribers in the next quarterly dispatch.
